Don't wait for the knock

Opportunity is not rare. Its is not elusive.

Opportunity is around us all the time. The problem is that we expect it to come knocking on our door, to present itself to us. If you wait for opportunity to come knocking, you had better be prepared to wait a long, long time.

The key to opportunity is to create the environment for it to flourish. In our work and personal lives, how we work at creating opportunity, how we take risks, how we open ourselves up to new things, determines whether we get out of our rut.

Try a new sales approach, target a new market, stretch your service commitment. Reach out to old friends, go on a trip, shake up your routine.

Thomas Edison put it this way: " We often miss opportunity because its dressed in overalls and looks like work... We should remember that good fortune often happens when opportunity meets with preparation"

In other words, don't wait for opportunity to come knocking. Put in some muscle and seek it out. It's all around you.
