Recognition is good, but...

As leaders, we have to think constantly about Recognition. It is important. Everyone likes to be recognized for their good work, their contributions.

And yet, it is criticism that is more valuable.Good leaders don't like to criticize anymore than anyone else, but the reality is, if we don't receive criticism well, if we don't give it well, we are short-changing ourselves and others.

It's not easy, and has to be done constructively.

In your performance evaluations, ask for criticism. Ask how you can be better.

In building a culture of transparency with your team, create an environment where giving and receiving criticism is valued.
